Minor Digital spoilers follow, go play the damn game if you haven’t:

It’s interesting to me that this is the exact opposite of my own reaction to Digital. I found that the best thing about the story was what you *didn’t* say. The player character had no voice beyond the players own, so continuing any sort of regular narration past the ending would be sort of like telling me what I’m supposed to feel, something that you never even tried to do throughout the rest of the game. 

I never felt in love with Emilia-if anyone does it’s probably sign of severe illness and they should seek help or real socialization- but I DID feel that Emilia in the game was in love with the hacker that was me in a way that I’ve never seen a game before. I was driven to help her because as a decent human being I *had to*.
Major spoilers follow here because you’ve had 2 paragraphs to go play the game already
Actually, I want to come right out and praise the ending sequence as the best that I’ve ever seen in any game ever. I felt like I had 2 legitimate, real moral choices, even if one wasn’t very obvious. I could either:

• run the kill command, killing Emilia and saving all the other AI’s
• or close the game, condemning every AI to death, but not killing Emilia  myself.

I honestly sat there trying to get Emilia to respond for about 15 minutes, I wanted a third option that wouldn’t make me feel like a monster, but it just wasn’t there. Eventually I ran the command, even though doing so made me feel a little sick.

I don’t know where I’m going with this, except to say that the ending to Digital has quite possibly the best ending and best romance of any videogame up to this point. The only problem is that I can never play it again. Knowing what’s going to happen would ruin the experience, and it’s not like I can feel the same feelings all over again.

TL;DR: Games is art, yo.

IGN recently announced that they are the “most popular” gaming site online because they have the most traffic. Using that as the new metric, I can safely say that Chicago is the “most popular” city in America.

Of course, the key difference between Chicago and IGN is that Chicago’s main export isn’t articles about sexy sexy videogames and the sexy characters that populate them. In fact a recent (and largely fictional) comparative study determined that IGN’s output is 87% sexy sexy sex-themed, while Chicago produces a piffling 7% sexiness, although in fairness porn jazz is one of the city’s top exports.

I usually don’t disagree with GJAIF completely, but in this case I do.
Yes, IGN likes to post blatant fanservice, though I don’t imagine they’re worse then many other blogs. I’m not going to argue that IGN is a good site-in fact, I don’t read them at all. This article, though, is actually a very good one. The idea of using the Sims Social as a way to flirt with people that you normally wouldn’t flirt with *is* a genuinely exciting one, and not for the titilation, and from what I know about Catherine it’s impossible to discuss it *without* discussing the psychosexual underpinnings.
Ultimately, this kind of discussion-a rather adult, frank look at sexuality in video games- is the sort of thing we *need* more of in the medium. It’s rare that I see a video game that actually explores sex. With the exception of Biowares now infamous fade-to-black sex scenes, or the occasional porn game it’s rare that sex is discussed at all, let alone in a sex-positive way relating to the social aspects.
